McCain needed a seamless digital layer for their annual internal conference at The Capital on Park, Sandton — from pre-event registration to on-the-day access control, live speaker interaction, and a brand-new product launch game for the PICKERS range. Social Wiiv delivered it all through a single white-label conference microsite.
McCain's annual conference needed to feel more than a passive day of presentations. With 117 delegates gathering under the theme "Together Let's Rise and Shine", the brief called for a technology platform that could manage the full event lifecycle — pre-event registration, on-the-day access, real-time speaker interaction, and structured post-event feedback — while also introducing a fun brand moment to launch the new PICKERS frozen snack range.
The solution needed to:
— Replace manual sign-in with verified QR code access control
— Give speakers real-time audience feedback tools: polls, ratings, surveys and quizzes
— Keep delegates engaged and on their phones between sessions in a structured, branded way
— Create an interactive, memorable brand moment around the PICKERS product launch
Social Wiiv designed and deployed a fully white-labeled conference platform for McCain — a single branded microsite accessible via custom domain and email, that unified the RSVP flow, access control, live audience interaction, speaker feedback, and the PICKERS product launch game into one seamless delegate experience.
Social Wiiv built a fully branded RSVP system with a custom domain and email address, powered by SMTP delivery. Custom email templates handled all confirmations and communications. Delegates registered via the microsite, confirming attendance and dietary requirements — and received a confirmation email containing their personal QR code for event access.
The microsite served as the central delegate hub throughout the entire conference — before, during, and after the event:
Registration with dietary requirements captured at sign-up.
Auto-sent on registration with personal QR code for event entry.
Full conference programme with session times and speakers.
Speaker profiles and session purpose & outcomes published pre-event.
Venue directions, parking info and shuttle schedule for delegates.
Delegates could update their personal information before and after the event.
On the day of the conference, access control staff used the Social Wiiv Access Control App on their devices to validate and check in each delegate. Every attendee presented their personal QR code — either from their confirmation email or the microsite's "My QR Code" page — which was scanned to validate their registration and check them in. A welcome email was automatically triggered to the delegate upon successful check-in.
Directly after each speaker completed their presentation, an SMS was sent to all 117 delegates with a link back to the conference microsite. The link opened a dedicated feedback page where delegates could rate the speaker and provide written feedback on the topic — all captured in real time and available to the event organisers on the admin dashboard.
Speakers had the option to include additional elements in their post-session feedback link:
Delegates rated the speaker and provided qualitative feedback on the topic — triggered via SMS immediately after each session ended.
Speakers could attach a custom survey to their feedback link — capturing audience insights on the topic they presented, beyond just a rating.
Speakers could include a quiz to test delegate comprehension of the content — validating understanding and adding a learning mechanic to each session.
Speakers could incorporate Live Polls directly into their presentation slides. When a speaker reached their poll slide, an SMS was sent to all delegates with a link to vote on the microsite — and the live poll results were displayed in real time on the main presentation screen, allowing the audience to see the collective response as it formed. This turned passive viewing into active participation at every poll moment.
Following the conclusion of the conference, a post-event feedback survey was sent to all 117 delegates via SMS — linking back to the microsite where they could complete a structured survey covering the overall event experience, venue, content, and conference theme. This gave McCain's team a comprehensive data-driven view of delegate sentiment immediately after the event while impressions were still fresh.
To introduce the new McCain PICKERS range of frozen finger foods at the conference, Social Wiiv created a bespoke interactive touchscreen game that put the product at the centre of a fun, prize-based brand moment — giving delegates a tactile, memorable introduction to the range in a way that a presentation slide never could.
The touchscreen displayed 8 tiles in a grid — each representing a letter from the word PICKERS plus the McCain logo. Hidden behind each tile was a graphic of a prepared PICKERS food plate. Delegates tapped a tile to flip it (revealing the food graphic beneath), then chose a second tile — if the hidden graphics matched, they won a prize. Each delegate was given 3 chances to pick a matching pair.
"The PICKERS game was the highlight of the day — delegates were genuinely excited about it, and the moment they saw those food images flip up was the perfect introduction to the range. It was a product launch moment that actually landed."
— McCain Brand TeamThe McCain conference platform unified every touchpoint of the delegate journey into a single, coherent digital experience — eliminating manual processes, enabling real-time speaker feedback, and making the PICKERS product launch a genuine conference highlight.
By unifying RSVP, access control, live interaction and product activation through a single white-label microsite, Social Wiiv gave McCain a conference platform that worked before, during, and after the event — with every delegate touchpoint captured in one data stream. The SMS-driven speaker feedback loop gave McCain's team structured, real-time insight into how each session landed, while the post-event survey rounded out the data picture once delegates had time to reflect.
The PICKERS game proved that product launches don't have to live in a presentation deck — an interactive touchscreen moment that gave every delegate a hands-on, prize-driven introduction to the new range created genuine excitement and word-of-mouth within the room.
"Having speaker ratings, live poll results and survey responses available in real time on the dashboard meant we could see exactly how the day was landing — and address anything that needed attention before the next session. That's a game-changer for internal events."
